Showers and some thunderstorms will make their way across Arkansas today
and exit
eastern Arkansas early this evening.
An isolated severe storm or two will be possible in
southeast Arkansas
from late this afternoon into early this evening. Best chances will be
in
extreme southeast Arkansas. Damaging winds will be the main severe
weather threat, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out entirely.
We should see quite a few rainfall totals in the 1/2 to 1 inch range
over the
eastern half of the state, with a few 2 inch totals possible
near the Mississippi River. Rainfall amounts will taper off the farther
west you go.
Winds will pick up from later tonight into Wednesday. We will probably
have some of the windiest weather we have seen in quite some time. The
air should have quite a bite to it on Wednesday with the windy
conditions and colder temperatures.
The next chance for winter weather should be in
northern Arkansas from
late Friday through early Saturday. In this time frame, there will be
chances for a rain/snow mix or some light snow. Current weather maps
suggest that "light" is the key word here.
