Leon Tidwell of Little Rock did write "The Conversation" based on personal experience - as a visually impaired man, not as an assassin. Although I gotta say that one might be more interesting than the other, I'm happy with the safer choice.
I found out about "The Conversation" through a friend, Michael "Doc" Davis, who was cast in the film as a seedy dude who had hired a man for a hit. You'll see Doc toward the middle, arguing with the main character.
The Conversation: An Interview With a Visually Impaired Hit Man from Leon Tidwell on Vimeo.
Trench (Chad Bradford), a visually impaired assassin, aims to prove to a local Reporter (Paige Reynolds) via an interview that society's stereotyping only blinds them from seeing an individual's full potential. If you put a person into a box, be careful, he could defy all expectations.
BIOGRAPHY:
Leon Tidwell, Filmmaker, Director, Actor
Leon was raised in Newport and Jacksonport, Arkansas. After being diagnosed with a visual impairment he attended The Arkansas School for the Blind. It was at A.S.B., that Leon competed in track and wrestling and was bitten by the acting bug, things that never would have happened in a public school at the time.
Leon then attended Henderson State University where he majored in Mass Media and minored in Theater Arts. At Henderson, Leon discovered his love of visual storytelling.
After obtaining his undergraduate Degree, Leon earned a Masters of Fine Arts from Henderson. He worked as a Graduate Assistant at the College TV Station.
After Graduation, Leon tried to find work in Little Rock media. He kept running into the the phrase “driver's license required” on most of the job applications. In 2001, he was offered a teaching position at The Arkansas School for the Blind. Leon taught History drama and Journalism at A.S.B.. During his time at The Arkansas School for the Blind Leon was Director of Photography on “Insomniac” a no-budget film directed by Christian Neal.
Leon has also competed as part of a team in the Little Rock 48-Hour Film Festival for four years. He was director of photography on two 48-hour film projects, and holds director, and actor credits. Leon's most memorable 48-Hour character was “the blind man” in “Fortunate” under the direction of Gerry Bruno.
Leon has written a few feature film scripts and is working on a Feature script he plans to shoot sometime in the near future. The feature script is based on Leon's short film entitled “The Conversation” In “The Conversation”, a reporter conducts an interview with a visually impaired assassin. “The Conversation” is the first film that Leon has written and directed outside of college.
