Goodwill’s celebrates 85th anniversary
Special events planned for the whole year
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (January 9, 2012) – Goodwill Industries of Arkansas is celebrating their 85th anniversary and everyone is invited to the party. In honor of the milestone, Goodwill has created a special anniversary section on their website (goodwillar.org). Visitors to bit.ly/goodwillar85 will find a timeline, a collection of newspaper articles written about Goodwill, and photographs covering the past eight decades. Goodwill plans to offer big savings to their supporters throughout the year as well.
“Special sales and promotions will be popping up all year,” Goodwill’s Director of Marketing and Communication, Susan Crossley, said. “We will announce sale days on our website, Facebook page and through email blasts, so we encourage everyone to sign up or ‘like’ us to get notified.”
To kick off the celebration, we are giving away an $85 Goodwill shopping spree at the end of January to the person who knows the most about the organization. Through Jan. 31, individuals can complete an online quiz about Goodwill. The person who gets the most correct answers wins the $85 shopping spree. The quiz is available on our Facebook and website.
Since 1927, Goodwill has been changing lives one donation at a time. The organization was started by a group of community leaders who recognized the state’s need for a training and employment program for those without job skills. Eighty-five years later, Goodwill remains as relevant to the community as ever as we continue assisting people with disabilities and other barriers to independence through education, training, career services and employment.
